| Description du revers | The reverse of the coin depicts the legend of the founding of Vilnius through artistic means. According to the legend, Gediminas, the Grand Duke of Lithuania, following a hunting trip, dreamt of an iron wolf, whose loud cry moved the waters of the Neris River. A sage named Lizdeika explained to Gediminas that a city would be built here, and its name would be heard all around the world. The composition is surrounded by the inscription “VILNIUS”, “700” and the initials of the author. |
