Obverse description On the left, allegory of Industry and Agriculture on the right standing on two bases in which are inscribed article 139 of the penal code, a bas-relief representing scene of the ancient life, joins the two bases. Safety fund consisting of a fruit bowl and two medallions representing Ceres and Mercury.
Obverse lettering Banque de Madagascar mille francs CAM. CHAZAL INV. ET DEL. F. WIESENER SCLUP.
Reverse description A central cartouche held by olive branches in which the face value is inscribed in red, framed by two statues. Two oval cartridges on either side of the note receiving the watermarks. Two dragons support everything.
