Obverse description The world-famous Viennese Ferris wheel in the Pratterpark is depicted at the top of this beautiful commemorative issue. This is one of the most famous symbols of Vienna. Next to it you will see the highest mountain in Austria: the Grossglockner. At the bottom is a beautiful image of the Belvedere castle. Here in 1955 the independence of Austria was signed. The silver application and the center of this commemorative issue are reserved for the famous Ambras Castle. From 1563 the summer residence of the Archduke of Austria and also Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire, Ferdinand II. The obverse shows the exterior of this castle and the reverse shows the interior of the Spanish Hall, one of the most important free-standing halls of the Renaissance, after a painting from 1569.
