Obverse description The reverse of Germania 2023 is the traditional image of the Germania Mint coat of arms, with a two-headed eagle holding lightning bolts and surrounded by olive branches. The eagle is derived from Germanic mythology, associated with Janus – the god of all beginnings, guardian of gates and bridges, and patron of alliances. The eagle’s heads, facing in opposite directions, symbolize the past and the future.

Reverse description As in previous years, the perspective of the obverse of Germania 2023 expands with each coin in the collection – 1, 2, 10 ounce and 1 kg. This year’s issue, however, introduces another innovation – the obverse also changes the image of our heroine, who, traversing the unknown land, eventually plunges her imperial sword Reichsschwert into the ground.
